I was born in a city called Dar es Salaam.
It is situated on a massive natural harbour by the Indian Ocean in East Africa.
Dar es Salaam is in Tanzania and means 'house of peace'.
My formal education included attending an International School.
Experiencing the joys of boarding school under the efficient hands of Franciscan Sisters.
The excitement of catching a bus to high school having been chauffeured all my life.
Frantically waving goodbye at Paddington Station as I left home to study.
My working life has been just as varied and colourful.
I have been to many places and met many different types of people.
I started out at ten years old helping the Sister at a neo-natal unit.
I called bingo at fifteen.
More recently I worked as a tour guide and a librarian before starting this introduction agency in 2005.
As a single person, the idea of running an introduction agency seemed like a brilliant multi-tasking exercise.
Maybe it was just me, but unsuitable characters seemed to approach me while those I thought were quite suitable did not.
I had to be proactive.
After my somewhat sheltered upbringing, it is still quite liberating to walk up to people and ask, "Are you single?"
